Solar park Voorste Heikant

Novar is currently working with energy cooperative KempenStroom on the development of solar park Voorste Heikant in the municipality of Reusel-De Mierden. The project site is located between the Hoge Vijvers nature reserve and the circuit of motor club De Wielwaal. Five wind turbines stand in the middle of the site as part of the Reusel-De Mierden wind farm. The planned location for the solar park consists of agricultural land and covers approximately 31.6 hectares, of which 22.9 hectares will be covered with solar panels. A total of 58,277 panels will generate renewable energy, enough to supply over 12,000 households with green electricity.

The design has been coordinated with the energy cooperative, local residents, the municipality, and other stakeholders. The solar park is currently in the permitting phase.

Space for a battery

Developments in the world of sustainable energy are moving rapidly — including the advancement of energy storage in the form of batteries. For some solar parks, storage is already a valuable addition; for others, Novar is convinced that battery storage will become relevant for all solar parks, both new and existing, in the future. That is why we will include a designated battery storage area in the permit application, to avoid the need for a permit revision at a later stage. The exact location of this storage area will be determined during the technical detailing phase.

Contribution and contact

The construction of solar park Voorste Heikant makes a significant contribution to the sustainability ambitions of the municipality of Reusel-De Mierden and the province of North Brabant. The installed capacity of the solar park is approximately 36 MWp, which is expected to generate around 33,000 MWh of sustainably produced electricity per year.
