Our fixers: part 6

In each month’s ‘Our Fixers’ series, we talk to a colleague about working at Novar. Everyone works in a different department, but with a common goal: fixing the energy transition. In part 6, we talk to Özge Iliç-Biçer, Corporate Lawyer at Novar.

‘As a Corporate Lawyer at Novar, I provide pragmatic legal advice to various stakeholders within the organisation. I handle both complex files and short operational questions, focusing on identifying and preventing legal risks. My work covers a wide range of legal areas and focuses on providing applicable legal advice.

Flexible and creative

The challenge and pleasure in my work lie in the dynamics of Novar – taking the initiative and contributing ideas are encouraged here. This requires flexible and creative legal solutions that not only fit within the applicable laws and regulations, but also match the interests of both internal and external stakeholders.

From contract to closing

In this context, I work with colleagues from all departments within the organisation. I advise and contribute to drafting, assessing and negotiating contracts. Sometimes on the basis of existing documents, but often also from the moment there is only an idea or question. Then I help think about the right legal form and elaborate it further. I also draw up model contracts and ensure that they remain up to date and applicable in practice.

I am also involved in legal activities within M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) processes, such as the purchase or sale of entities. In doing so, I coordinate with external notaries and advisers. In financial closings, I take care of the legal recording of agreements concerning project financing. I also deal with various legal issues that arise during the day-to-day work in our organisation.

Really involved

I feel most valuable when my contribution leads to others being able to move forward with certainty and ease. This can be a complex issue, or even a small decision – if it helps, it is successful.

What appeals to me about working at Novar is that you notice that people are really involved – in their work and with each other. It is an organization in motion, where you are challenged to think along and where your ideas can actually set something in motion. And that is exactly what makes it a place where I like to work.’
