Novar has acquired a large-scale solar project in Untermünkheim in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The project, named “Untermünkheim”, represents approximately 100 MWp of solar capacity and is spread across three locations. In addition, the project has the potential to include a co-located battery energy storage system with an expected capacity of around 160 MWh.
The projects were originally initiated by Stromernte GmbH. Novar acquired the portfolio in late December 2025 and will continue the development together with Stromernte. Novar owns 100% of the projects and is responsible for their development, while Stromernte will support the process through a development services agreement
Strengthening the energy transition in Baden-Württemberg
With an expected installed capacity of around 100 MWp, the Untermünkheim portfolio represents a significant renewable energy development in the region. It is Novar’s first project in southern Germany and the first M&A acquisition by Novar Germany GmbH, marking an important milestone in the company’s expansion in the German renewable energy market.
A large part of the project area is located on so-called privileged land along infrastructure corridors. The portfolio is divided into three major sites and is expected to become one of the highest-yielding projects within the Novar Group due to its strong solar conditions and location.
Local economic impact
Beyond generating renewable electricity, the project is expected to contribute to the local economy by creating new income streams for municipalities and landowners. At the same time, it supports the decarbonisation targets of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Due to the planned application for EEG support, the development timeline may be ambitious, with the potential to start generating electricity within the next two years. In the coming months, the project will be presented to local municipalities as part of the ongoing development process.
“We are thrilled to develop our first major project in southern Germany together with our local partner Stromernte,” said Kerim Eraksan, Country Manager Germany at Novar. “This project demonstrates how we combine strong development expertise with trusted local partnerships. At the same time, it contributes to the local economy and supports the decarbonisation targets of the state of Baden-Württemberg.”
Partnership with Stromernte
The collaboration with Stromernte combines local development expertise with Novar’s experience in developing, financing and operating large-scale renewable energy systems across Europe.
